A time to be far from embraces

All things have their season, and in their times all things pass under heaven.

A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.

A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to destroy, and a time to build.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance.

A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather. A time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.

A time to get, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.

A time to rend, and a time to sew. A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.

A time of love, and a time of hatred. A time of war, and a time of peace.

I have learned that all the works which God hath made, continue for ever: we cannot add anything, nor take away from those things which God hath made that he may be feared.

That which hath been made, the same continueth: the things that shall be, have already been: and God restoreth that which is past.

I saw under the sun in the place of judgment wickedness, and in the place of justice iniquity.

And I said in my heart: God shall judge both the just and the wicked, and then shall be the time of every thing.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, 14-17

  1. Jesus Christ calls us to embrace in radical fashion mercy, forgiveness, and peace. Therefore, as Catholics, shouldn’t we always be close to, rather than far, from embraces?
    Pax.
    Mark Thomas

      1. I denied Sacred Scripture? No.
The Catholic Church is open always to the prospect of peace. That doesn’t mean that we deny God and His Truth. Jesus Christ stunned the Jews of His day as He preached radical forgiveness and mercy in place of an eye-for-an-eye mentality.
Jesus Christ’s way is the way of Holy Mother Church. She doesn’t turn people away who are open to discussion. The Church will engage even the most heretical person in dialogue. That doesn’t mean that the Church will embrace error. She will not embrace error. But when a person wishes to converse, rather than fight, then Holy Mother Church will embrace said person in the spirit of peace.
Even the heretical Martin Luther and fellow Protestants were invited by the Church to speak to Her during the Council of Trent. The Church guaranteed Martin Luther and Protestants, despite their heresies, the right of safe passage to and from the Council of Trent.
Again, that didn’t mean that the Church intended to embrace Protestant heresies. But by embracing the sinner, rather that the sin, the True Church at least has the possibility of reforming the sinner.
The Catholic Church prefers to embrace rather than push away.
Consider the situation in regard to the SSPX. For years, various liberals, moderates, and conservatives, despite serious disagreements among each other, attacked the SSPX. They believed that the SSPX should be shunned.
However, the Apostolic See refused to accept that approach. Rome never hesitated to embrace the SSPX, even when the SSPX bishops were excommunicated. Even during the most difficult times, Rome kept open the lines of communication with the SSPX.
Today, despite the controversies that rage throughout the Church, all sides are called by Holy Mother Church to embrace each other. Embrace. Discuss. Do not push each other away.
The time to embrace each other in the spirit of Jesus Christ never ends. Embrace. Build bridges. Talk with each other. See the face of Jesus Christ in each person. That is what the True Church teaches.
I did not deny Sacred Scripture. I embraced Sacred Scripture.
        Pax.

        1. The title of this post and the title of this blog are both from scripture. You deny scripture for the sake of false peace and false embraces. Get your own blog if that’s who you are. Bye.

  2. And so, the person “Mark Thomas” reappears from the shadows. I would warn the blog owner he is dealing with a dishonest man, always spining, confusing, misquoting, etc. He was polluting combox of Vox Cantoris for a long time, until Vox had enough of him.

  3. Pax is cheap.
Contra Jeremiam: “Et curabant contritionem filiæ populi mei cum ignominia, dicentes: Pax, pax! et non erat pax.”
Contra Dominum nostrum: “Non veni pacem mittere, sed gladium.”
When Truth reigns, there will be peace. Until then, not so much.

  4. Hi Katy, my you have been busy! Your christmas dercoations are lovely, I especially love the bird ones. Good luck at your fairs, it looks to me like they will go very well : )
